Programme Manager: Mobile Health
Main purpose of the job
To lead the Institute’s mHealth portfolio. Plan and implement health activities in partnering districts and health facilities.
Location
Hillbrow, Johannesburg
Key performance areas
Plan, implement, evaluate and roll out mHealth interventions in line with the ethical requirements of the Institute, Department of Health (DoH), and the Wits University.
Manage the day-to-day functions of the mHealth portfolio and staff, and conduct on-going site visits to implement sites.
Obtain necessary DoH approvals to expand the projects to new sites.
Develop, monitor and revise work plans for the portfolio in line with funder and WRHI requirements.
Interact with collaborating partners to exchange programme progress information and plan new activities.
Develop and submit timely programme monitoring reports to funders, collaborating partners and WRHI leadership.
Interact with and co-ordinate regular meetings with other WRHI teams involved in mHealth to share lessons learned and identify key trends and new opportunities in the field.
Develop journal articles, best practice materials, reports and other materials that document the experiences of the portfolio. Present information at conferences and meetings.
Partner with Institute leadership and teams to explore new funding opportunities in the field.
Build the Institute and partnering DoH staffs’ capacity to understand, integrate and implement mHealth solutions to strengthen public health services.
Required minimum education and training
A Master’s Degree in a research orientated area (psychology, education, anthropology, public health, etc.).
MS Office proficiency.
Required minimum work experience
3 – 5 years’ experience working with mHealth programmes in public health settings.
3 years’ experience with project and staff management.
Report and grant writing experience.
Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
Sound interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
Local and international travel may be required.
Knowledge and understanding of HIV/AIDS.
Valid drivers’ licence.
