On 23 November, the iPrEx study released positive results that found that a daily dose of the antiretroviral tablet, Truvada, was safe and reduced HIV infection risk among men who have sex with men (MSM) by an average of 43.8% overall. iPrEx enrolled 2,499 participants at 11 sites in 6 countries (South Africa, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Thailand and the US) on 4 continents. More...

 Announcement in development of FACTS

South Africa and the United States are proud to announce a historic bilateral partnership to support the development of tenofovir gel to prevent HIV transmission in women. South Africa is leading the charge to provide the world with the first safe and effective microbicide to protect women against HIV.
